Notes on a prototype feeling like a wholesome experience
At this point, the prototype of the 2D Space Shooter is starting to feel like a real video game. The user experience allows any player to dodge enemies, shoot non-stop waves of them, look for strategies to anticipate enemies spawning and dodging traffic, while looking for upgrades like the triple shot.
The prototype has a damage mechanic that can kill the player and stop the game. It also provides upgrades to vary the shooting mechanic and enemies are accumulated if not killed, making the game harder over time if the player cannot shoot them on their first run through the map.
The game still lacks sound, animations, UI and many more implementations, but as a prototype, some kids would love to play this, hover around and shoot enemies for a long time. All the other implementations will come on up next.
